Seminar Theme

The main theme for this one-day seminar is:
“How to Protect Yourself from an Armed Opponent.”

The seminar is divided into three major sessions covering scenarios involving sticks, knives, and other weapons.

Throughout the day, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of how to handle and defend against weapons. It’s structured so that you can attend from just one session, but if your schedule allows, we recommend taking as many sessions as possible for the maximum benefit.

Session (1) 9:00-11:00
Defense Against Stick-like Weapons and Application

Even though it may not frequently make the news, violent assaults using everyday items such as umbrellas or canes actually happen quite often. Also, crimes involving groups armed with crowbars or iron pipes—capable of causing fatal injuries—are unfortunately not rare these days in Japan.

These kinds of weapons are easy for criminals to obtain and carry without arousing suspicion, making them a very real threat.

Therefore, in this session, you will learn practical defense techniques for scenarios such as unarmed vs. stick attacks, including:

– Unarmed vs. Stick, Stick vs. Stick Defense Methods
– Self-defense using bags, umbrellas, etc.
– Hands-on training using “folding umbrellas,” “plastic convenience-store umbrellas,” and “durable long umbrellas” to feel their strength and characteristics

Defense Against Sticks

Session (2) 12:00-14:00
Dealing with Unforeseen Weapons and Attacks

According to Avi, there are many types of attacks around the world that are not as obvious as “stick or knife” weapons. Examples include someone spiking your drink, forcing you unconscious by making you inhale sleeping agents, splashing acids or other corrosive chemicals, or using spray attacks. While you might not see these stories frequently in Japanese news, they are real threats that one should be prepared for, especially when traveling abroad. This session teaches you how to deal with these unexpected scenarios.

– Situations involving drink spiking or the use of sleeping agents—unpredictable attacks
– Learning to anticipate the possibility that “anything could be a weapon” and to handle ambush attacks or uncommon situations

Session (3) 15:00-17:00
Defense Against Knives and Application

Knife crimes have, unfortunately, become more common in the news in Japan. It is definitely unsettling to see such dangerous crimes occurring in everyday places.

In this session, Avi focuses on teaching practical techniques that anyone can use, emphasizing defensive methods using everyday items like umbrellas or bags that can serve as improvised shields.

If you attend Session (1) on “Defense Against Stick Attacks,” you will gain an even deeper understanding and application when learning “Knife Defense” in Session (3).

– How to defend against and restrain a knife attacker when unarmed
– Defending against knives using stick-like objects (umbrellas, etc.) learned in Session (1)
– Self-defense using items you carry, such as bags, or anything around you like chairs

Benefits of Attending

Learn Global Protection Techniques Directly

Avi Nardia is an international expert who has instructed security and military organizations in various countries in Krav Maga and protective techniques. This is a rare opportunity to learn his real-world know-how directly here in Japan.

Update Your “Self-Defense” with Everyday Items

Preparing for worst-case scenarios is the essence of self-defense. By utilizing items you already carry in daily life, you can make your techniques far more practical. Simply knowing how to defend yourself using a folding umbrella or bag can greatly enhance your awareness of personal safety.

Three Sessions with High Interconnectivity

Each session complements the others, so attending all of them provides you with the versatility to handle a wide range of real-life scenarios. Of course, it is perfectly fine to choose just one or two sessions based on your schedule.
